Hieracium venosum, or Rattlesnake Weed, is native to about the eastern third of the United States, and is quite rare in some of those areas. It is a perennial, which grows in dry, sandy, acidic soil, along trails and along woodland edges, and in open woods as well. It blooms in mid summer with groups of dandelion-like yellow flowers on single stalks.
There are a number of Hieracium species, but this one is unique in that it has a very distinct pattern of red veins on its leaves. This easily distinguishes this species from others that look like it. There can, however, be a wide variation in veins, some being very intricate and some not, although almost all have some form of red veins on them. See photo below for two examples.
