Penstemon digitalis, or Foxglove Beardtongue, is native to the eastern half of the US. It is a perennial that grows along woodland edges, in open prairies, meadows and savananas and open glades and bluffs, in open woods, along trails, roadsides and railroads. It blooms in mid to late spring into early summer with white flowers that usually have purple lines inside.
