Smilax rotundifolia, or Roundleaf Greenbrier, is native to almost the entire eastern US. It is a perennial that grows in partially shaded woods and along woodland edges, and in thickets, open meadows and along streambanks. It blooms in early to mid spring into early summer with green-yellow flowers. Plants are either male or female, with slightly different flowers on each.
