Eli Vigneau (Venier) was a farmer from Quebec, Canada.  He born on September 7, 1812 in St-Jacques, Québec.  His wife was Sophranie Senever dit Marbe (Chennevert) born July 8, 1816.

St-Jacques is located in the county of Montcalm, region of Lanaudière, in the province of
Québec, Canada.  

                                                                

 

The original surname varied from Vigneau, Vingeaux, Vignault, Vingeux, and several other spellings.  Eli eventually came to Monroe, Michigan, sometime in the early 1840s, and the name became, and has remained, Venier.

At this time, it is known that Eli and Sophranie had the following 13 children:
