Asclepias exaltata, or poke milkweed, is native to the eastern United States, where it grows open woods and along woodland edges and trails in forests. It has far few flowers than other milkweeds, and therefore usually makes seedpods less often. It is a milkweed, and the larvae of the Monarch butterfly will readily eat it.

In our yard, this grows in the Woodland Area.
