Asclepias viridiflora, or green comet milkweed, is native to the entire United States, except the west coast; it grows in dry, sandy fields and prairies and woodland and roadside edges. It is a milkweed, and the larvae of the Monarch butterfly will readily eat it.

In our yard, this grows in the Prairie Area.
