Calypso bulbosa, or calypso, is an orchid species native to the northern tier of states across the United States from Washington to Maine, excluding North Dakota, and is additionally found in Alaska, Oregon, California, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. It grows in cool, moist pine forests amid the top layer of duff, and can also be found in bogs on the higher hummocks of sphagnum.
