Epigaea repens, or mayflower, is a member of the heath family native to the eastern half of the United States. Like many members of that family, it grows in acidic conditions; this plant needs very acidic soil to live, and it grows on slopes and in lightly shaded forests and bogs, in soil with those conditions.
