Gaura biennis, or biennial gaura, is native to much of the eastern United States. It grows in fields, prairies, waste places, roadsides and railroad tracks.

The plant is like those in the Oenothera genus, blooming at dusk and keeping its blossoms all night and into the next morning unless strong sunlight hits them, and then they quickly shrivel up.

In our yard, this grows in the Prairie.
