Gnaphalium obtusifolium, or rabbit tobacco, is native to the eastern half of the United States. It grows in open woodlands, clearings, fields, prairies, roadsides, railroads, waste places and meadows. It is an annual or biennial, and reseeds quite readily, often producing many rosettes around the previous years' plant.
