Cypripedium arietinum, or ram's head lady's slipper, is native only the most northern of the northeastern and midwestern states. It occurs in deciduous moist forests, dense swamps and bogs, as well as in drier conifer forests that are sandy and open. It does not have such a stringent requirement for acidity as its cousin, Cypripedium acaule, though most of its habitats do have at least a slightly acidic pH.

In our yard, this grows in the Woodland Area.
